Research Statement

My research interests are at the intersection of physiology, ecology, and molecular biology. I study how extrinsic stressors (e.g. hypoxia and temperature) influence the balance between energy demand and supply within organisms, how individuals navigate this challenge through phenotypic plasticity, and the long-term costs associated with this compensation. I work from the level of the whole organism down to genetic and epigenetic regulatory mechanisms to generate an integrative understanding of my research questions. This research has environmental and societal relevance through its utility in predicting organismal and ecosystem responses to environmental change.
