I completed my undergraduate degree in Physiology at the university of Glasgow. My final year project with Prof Godfrey Smith focused on electrophysiology in cardiomyocytes which inspired me to pursue a career in cardiac research. Subsequently, I began a BHF 1+3 PhD programme at the University of Manchester. My PhD investigates the effects of organic pollutant Phenanthrene on cardiac structure and electromechaical function.​
